In the heart of every thriving community is a leader whose commitment goes beyond the ordinary—someone who doesn't just show up but transforms the space they inhabit. For the Lambda Omega Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., that leader is Dr. Wileen Benjamin. A dynamic professional and a devoted Soror, Dr. Benjamin’s journey is a testament to the power of leading with purpose, grace, and an unwavering grit that inspires everyone around her.
Dr. Benjamin’s leadership is grounded in a deep-seated commitment to scholarship and ethical development. Holding advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and a Ph.D. in Ethics and Business Management, she brings a scholarly perspective to her service.
Perhaps one of Dr. Benjamin’s most impactful roles is her service as the Rhosebud Club Advisor. Since 2020, she has been the vital backbone of youth programming, logging over 200 community service hours dedicated to mentoring young girls.
She serves in three critical capacities for our youth:
The Bridge Builder: Dr. Benjamin acts as the link between the sorority’s rich history and its future, ensuring that the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service are planted early in our Rhosebuds.
The Problem Solver: Managing the countless moving parts of youth programming, she anticipates needs before they arise, ensuring every meeting and project is seamless.
The Visionary: She has elevated the Rhosebud program by introducing innovative activities and modern mentorship styles that keep the group relevant and sought-after in the community.
Dr. Wileen Benjamin’s story is one of uplift through action. As she often reflects through the words of Rosa Parks, knowing what must be done does away with fear. Through her leadership, mentorship, and service, she continues to strengthen our community and foster a future full of unity and opportunity.
